Decorated trunks or a good way to hook in the tourists or someone has waaaay too much time on their hands.  Whatever the reason, there are several tree trunks decorated this way on King’s Wharf, Bermuda.  It is actually crocheted and knitted yarns wrapped around the branches, tightly fitting, like little sweaters.  Two days later, when we ferried to St. Georges, we saw trees dressed there also.   I’m eying up the mountain ash in the front yard—wonder what Wes would say to that?

From the hill overlooking the harbor at King’s Wharf, Bermuda, I snapped a picture of our cruise ship, the Norwegian Dawn.  The ship is 985 feet long.  That’s hard to compare to something until you look at the buses, which are regular size, parked near the ship.  The buses look like toys and the ship looks like some kind of monster.

We had a great time, even though it was chilly and we never even put on our bathing suits.  Instead of beach time, we went sight seeing: taking a ferry to two different towns, using the public transportation buses and our own two feet to navigate.  We enjoyed the music and shows on the ship, ate lots of wonderful food and also spent time relaxing with some good novels.  Vacations are awesome—we’re already planning our next one!

Here we go again— literally.  Wes and I are driving to Boston this morning and catching the cruise ship, Norwegian Dawn.  We set sail about 4pm for Bermuda, dock there for three days and then head back to Boston, arriving on May 17th.  Three years ago, when we cruised to Alaska, we put a down payment on another cruise.  We had three years to take it and the time expires in June, so we had to go.  Cruising twice in eight weeks—we’ve never done that before and probably won’t ever again.  When we got home in March, I washed all our cruise clothes and put them back in the suitcases.  I do have to iron some stuff, but at least I don’t have to stand in front of my closet and decide what to take.  Like last time, there will be a daily picture and a quote and like last time there will be lots of cruise posts when we get home.See you in a week!
