Wes has spinning feeders and trap door shutting feeders all in an attempt to keep the squirrels at bay, with moderate success. We bought this one last year. It holds sunflower seeds in a mesh tube inside a metal framework. The birds fit through the framework and the squirrels are left scratching their heads. Until—- the red squirrel moved into the yard. This species is a little smaller than the gray ones and fits quite easily through the metal frame. He sits quite happily posing for pictures and snacking gorging on sunflower seeds. I can see it now, next spring he’ll invite all his relatives and we’ll have squirrel gang wars.
Looks like the squirrel forgot to comb her hair! Guess was in a hurry to get fed.
