patched jeans

Bonnie and Paul invited us to dinner last night.  Bonnie made a lentil/vegetable stew in her crock pot that she served over rice, curried chicken, salad and biscuits.  It was a most delicious meal and I asked her for the recipe for the lentil dish.  It will become a part of our meal cycle.  She cooked the basmati rice in her new cast iron pot.  I dried it when she washed the dishes–it weighs a ton.

The second picture is of the patch in my blue jeans.  I’ve had these jeans several years and caught them on a nail right after I bought them.  I zigzagged with my sewing machine to patch the hole, in matching thread.  Look at how much my jeans have faded.  They still fit comfortably though and I’ll keep them until all that’s left is the patch.  That’s Maizie’s paw on my leg.  She reached up just as I snapped the picture.
