bear's paw gone wrong

Wes and I babysat for Andrew yesterday.  He hasn’t been napping, but while I was in my bedroom folding sheets, he climbed on our bed and snuggled under the quilt.  I asked him if he was going to take a nap and he said yes.  So, Wes came in and laid down with him until he fell asleep.   All this is leading up to me having a free hour, so, of course, I headed to my sewing machine.  This is the fourth block in a Block of the Month I’m doing and I’ve had it cut for several days and couldn’t find the 15 minutes to sew it together.  The top picture is what it’s supposed to look like when it’s finished.  The bottom picture is what it looked like, and how much I had sewn on it, before I realized I’d messed it up.  Sometimes, when a mistake is made like this, a whole new block is invented and if you make more, they look really cool together.  That wasn’t going to be  the case this time, so I ripped it all out and made it correctly.  My 15 minute project turned into 45.  And, Wes did fall asleep too.
