This time of year, there’s a lot of lasts: last day of classes, last day of school, last dance recital.  The occasions are happy, but a little bittersweet.  Raven has been taking dance classes since she was four.  She’s always loved it and looked forward to her class each week.  Yesterday afternoon was her last dance recital.  She looked lovely with her makeup done perfectly and a very pretty costume.  All the dancers did well and I thoroughly enjoyed the performances.  Each year, at the end of the recital, the senior girls have their pictures flashed up on the screen with the college they are planning to attend and what they are planning to study listed.  I was fine watching Raven dance, but seeing her picture up there, unhinged me and I grabbed a tissue from my purse.  Afterwards, outside, April admitted that had gotten to her too.  Next weekend, Raven gets her high school diploma.  I already have several travel packs of tissues in my purse.
