Saturday morning I picked Cathy up bright and early (10am) and we headed to Cairo for the Cairo Piecemakers quilt show and then to Windham for the Patchworkers quilt show.   The Piecemakers show was held in the town library. The room isn’t large but the quilters made good use of it.  There were quilts, of course, a raffle for a quilt, a demonstration, a handmade items booth, and kind of  “yard sale” of used items all related to quilting and lots of visitors.  There also was nine miniature quilts depicting a scene from a movie.  The viewer had to guess the movie title.  I figured out two, but Cathy did really well and got most of them.  (I’ve always been bad at puzzles). From Cairo, we drove twenty minutes to Windham to the second quilt show in a school.  There was quilts, antique quilts (like the Grandmother’s Flower Garden in the first picture) and vendors.  Usually at a quilt show the vendors sell quilt related items such as fabric, patterns, quilt kits and notions.  This show had pottery,  honey, goat cheese, soaps and jewelry vendors.  All the items were handmade and reasonably priced.  After we finished looking at the quilts and vendors, we stopped in the village of Windham for a slice of pizza and then stopped in Windham Fabrics.  The store was having a sale in honor of the quilt show, so it was busy.  Cathy and I have never been to a quilt show(s) and a store and not bought anything, so yesterday was groundbreaking.  We stopped on the way home  and celebrated with ice cream cones.  We had to buy something and lunch didn’t count.
