Starting in July, Bonnie (who evidently has nerves of steel) took Raven out to practice driving two or three times a week.  Raven progressed from a total novice quite quickly, so half way through the summer, she made an appointment for her driver’s test.  That put the pressure on, of not only learning to drive competently, but to learn to parallel park and do three point turns by August 27.  Raven drove every chance she got and practiced her parks and turns.  Yesterday afternoon, we drove to Catskill and took our place in line behind two other cars.  The fifteen minutes of wait time was excruciating, as we ran out of small talk and just sat, both of us nervous.  She pulled away from the curb as I watched from a bench.  I chatted with man who was waiting for his student to take his commercial driving test, but couldn’t tell you a bit of our conversation.  I saw the Honda pull in the road and park along the side.  The examiner spoke to Raven for a couple of minutes, then got out and crossed the road.  I couldn’t help myself from asking as we passed each other, ” Yes or no?”  He smiled as he said, “Yes!”
