Wes and I drove to Queens yesterday, picked up Corey, Daisy and Desi and drove to Brooklyn. After brunch in an old brick factory restaurant called Superfine, we walked to and across the Brooklyn Bridge. There were lots of people walking and jogging in the walking lane and lots more people biking in the biking lane. The views were spectacular. You can see the Statue of Liberty in the middle left of the second picture. What caught Desi’s attention was all the locks. As couples cross the bridge, they leave a memento of their love. Some leave hair ties or some kind of ribbon, tied on the fencing. Some leave locks, either combination or the key kind. There were a few with the couples’ names and the date, but most were just locked with no identification. Desi liked the combination locks and had to turn each one, possibly to see if it would open. It was a lovely day and a lovely walk. After finishing the walk, we caught the subway into Manhattan…..but more on that tomorrow.
