Wes, Corey, Daisy, Desi and I caught the subway from Brooklyn to Manhattan. While Wes and Corey watched football and enjoyed a beer, Daisy, Desi and I went to the Lego Store at Rockefeller Center. I was hoping to find the new Christmas kit, to go with the one I built last year,(but as Wes said, “It’s only September!”) but it wasn’t out yet. What we did find was all the available Lego kits, some amazing scenes built from Legos and a wall full of individual bins of Legos. We picked up a plastic cup and Desi had a great time filling it with Legos of his choice. He picked all different colors and shapes, even wheels and tires. As long as the top fit reasonably on the cup, it was one price. The sales person taped the top shut for us and he was very eager to get it home so we could build. Daisy bought Corey two Simpson figures. The package doesn’t say which of the 16 figures is inside as you’re supposed to take a chance. The salesman was able to tell us which one was Homer by feeling the package. We took a chance on the other one and let it be a surprise. (It was Marge). Corey says he’s going to glue them to the dashboard of his car. Desi, Daisy and I built cars and houses with Desi’s cupful of Legos and it was great fun.
The top picture is the Lego version of Rockefeller Center taken from inside the store. Outside, you can see legs of people looking in. The second picture is “The Big Apple” which was on display a the checkout counter. I guess I’ll have to wait for the catalog to see what this year’s Christmas set is.
