Wes and I took a little drive on Saturday–3 hours each way–to Tunkhannock, PA. One of the ladies in my Thursday Night quilt group had gone to the Airing of the Quilts last year and told us all about it. I filed away a copy of the program she brought back and we made plans to go this year. It’s a small town and on the main street, all the the shops had quilts hanging in their windows. The furniture store had quilts draped on beds and couches. The gazebos in the town had quilts hanging from the rafters. A lot of the houses had ropes strung on the porches or from fences with quilts hanging. There was a show of 90 quilts hanging in the middle school, there was a exhibit of red and white quilts hanging in the town courthouse, there was a display of quilts of two quilting friends in the parish hall, where there was also a delicious lunch. And, there is a beautiful quilt shop in the town, which was crowded beyond belief, so I took a look around but didn’t want to stand in the the long checkout line. Instead, we drove through the parts of town we hadn’t walked, and looked at more quilts hanging from houses.
I’ll have more pictures in the next few days. My camera battery died, so it won’t let me download the pictures. The pictures above are from my cell phone. As I’m typing this, my camera battery is charging, but not fast enough for me. I’m impatient to see my pictures.
