Andrew at lunch with Bento box

Sunday was April’s birthday.  Since I was traveling home from the quilt retreat, we had made plans to have lunch out on Monday.  April had never been to Yum Yum Noodles, so we decided to go there to celebrate.  Five of us, April, Jessica, Wes, Andrew and I drove down together.  We asked Andrew what he wanted to eat in Yum Yum Noodles.  After telling us he “didn’t feel like noodles today because I don’t like them anymore”, he decided the restaurant should be called “Yuk Yuk Noodles.”  I told him he could sit in the car while we went in and had lunch, if he didn’t like noodles.  At that point, he decided he liked noodles again and was happy to sit at the table.  The kids menu is limited, but Andrew is an adventurous eater.  We ordered him a kid’s Bento box which consisted of a steamed bun topped with barbecued pork and sides of freshly steamed broccoli, brown rice, miso soup and apple juice.  He ate everything except the brown rice, and tried both Wes’ soba noodles and April’s peanut sauce topped noodles from her Bento box.  Wes, Jessica and I had the signature soup and I couldn’t share my rice noodles as the coconut curry broth was spicy.  After thoroughly enjoying our lunch, we stopped at TCBY for frozen yogurt (had to cool my mouth down somehow) and sang Happy Birthday to April there. We had a great time and I think forever in our family lore that restaurant will be called Yuk Yuk Noodles.
