Romanesco cauliflower

Wes and I stopped at the Story Farm vegetable stand yesterday to buy some butternut squash.  I snapped pictures of the purple cauliflower and then asked Irene what the vegetable in the bottom picture is.  She told me it’s a Romanesco cauliflower.  We had to buy one to try it because I just loved how it looked.  On Wikipedia it said it is also called Romanesco broccoli and the flavor is more delicate and nuttier than regular cauliflower and it’s more crunchy.  I have never thought that cauliflower tasted nutty, so we’ll see how this tastes.  I’ll keep you posted.

  1. Very pretty cauliflower! I think they are so fun to add the different colors to your plate.
