Cathy and I had a wonderful time at our quilting retreat. On the trip up on Thursday, we did a mini shop hop, visiting three quilt stores before checking in at the bed and breakfast. Cathy was after a certain color teal/green in several fabrics to make a table topper as a wedding shower gift, and it involved lots of hunting for the fabrics. We did a bit more shopping on Friday, then sewed as the other retreaters arrived. We knew all but one of the other women from previous retreats, and the new one quickly became a friend too. There was only eight of us this year, which made for a much less crowded sewing room and no waiting lines for the ironing boards. Cathy got her whole FTCGD (flowers that can’t get done) quilt put together, except for the outer borders, while I only got mine sewn into four rows. Somehow, I either misplaced the sashing fabric or didn’t have to begin with, so my FTCGD quilt needed sashing and border fabric. Cathy also pieced her table topper and I worked on my farm quilt and thirties fabric cat blocks. We had wonderful food, provided right at the bed and breakfast, which gave us lots of time for sewing. All we had to do to go eat was to walk into the next room. We left right after lunch on Sunday, to revisit two of the quilt shops and purchase the needed border fabric. We are already signed up for next April; it’s on my calendar in ink–looking forward to it already.
It snowed all day Saturday, but we were cozy inside, watching the flakes fall. Sunday morning, it was bitter cold, 16 degrees, but the daffodils bravely poked through the snow. The last picture is the sewing room with some of the quilters hard at work.
