butter pecanWes and I celebrated our 43rd wedding anniversary yesterday.  When I arrived home from quilt shop hopping with Cathy, there was a beautiful bouquet of yellow mums on the kitchen table.  I love the way mums smell and a bouquet this size perfumes the whole house.

We went out for an anniversary dinner at the Quarry Steak house in Coxsackie.  It also was a scouting dinner as it’s our turn to treat our dining out group next.  Parts of the meal were wonderful. There was a  bean soup, cheese, cracker and fruit starter that we could help ourselves to, but the soup was only lukewarm.  The cheese was good and I’m a sucker for the little butterfly crackers in individual packages (I know, I know) My stuffed mushrooms were delicious with a light crunchy bread crumb topping, but Wes didn’t care for his pot sticker appetizer.  Our salads were made from fresh  Romaine lettuce ( a favorite of ours) but came topped with bacon and egg yolk (yucchy!!!–in my opinion)  Wes said his strip steak was delicious, as was my Parmesan crusted, baked haddock, but the French fries and green bean sides were inedible.  It’s a shame that this restaurant can do some dishes really well, but the ones they don’t do well, are the deal breakers.  We won’t go back.  It’s all a good anniversary memory (Remember that bad meal we had–what was the name of that place) that we’ll talk about on other anniversaries.peanut butter sundae

We finished up with a stop for ice cream–a Perry’s butter pecan cone for him and a peanut butter (what else!!) sundae for me.

The best part of us not liking the Quarry is we get to go out again, looking for a suitable restaurant.

Happy Anniversary, Darling.  I love you with all my heart.
