Sunday morning, I stepped off the deck with a wash basket of wet clothes to hang on the line and almost squashed this moth.  It was flopping around in the grass, often pausing to rest.  The wings were a bit tattered, so it obviously had been around a while and was dying.  Corey confirmed it was a moth, but didn’t have a specific ID.  I showed my picture to Bonnie yesterday and she immediately said, “Cecropia.”  She was right.  Here’s an interesting little article about them.  After looking at the pictures, I know I have seen the caterpillars around too.  You never know what’s going to turn up in your backyard.
