Cathy and I drove to Newtown, Connecticut on Saturday to drop off quilts (one for her, three for me) at a machine quilter. We asked her if there were any quilt shops close by and she said there was a new one open in town, but she hadn’t been to it yet. We decided to check it out and found it easily and only a few minutes away. The shop had been open for two weeks, but Saturday was the grand opening, with snacks and goodie bags given out.
The shop had lovely fabrics, but not to our taste, so after looking around we left to seek out lunch. There was a very busy diner close to the Rt. 84 exit, so we had quick bite to eat, then stopped at a close by ice cream stand called Holy Cow. They make their own ice cream and there was lots to choose from. Cathy opted for a chocolate chip cone, while I tried the peach melba. Both of us enjoyed the ice cream very much and we are glad we have to go back to pick up our finished quilts.
The pictures are from the ice cream stand. There were nine flower boxes in front, all in full bloom, making the ice cream experience even better.
Let me know when you are coming back!
