farm girl vintage

Being I’ve finished the blocks on my last project and need to visit a quilt shop for the sashing fabric, I was looking around for something to do.  I bought the book Farm Girl Vintage by Lori Holt back in May because I had seen some of her posts on Instagram and I was intrigued. Lori hosts quilt retreats and she came up with an additional block, the little piggy, for the ladies at the retreats.  When pictures of the piggy block started being posted on Instagram, there was an outcry from people who had bought the book and wanted the cute piggy too.  Lori created a pattern for it a so everyone can put it in their quilt also.  There is one block in the quilt that I don’t care for, so my piggy is replacing that one.  48 blocks–at one a day, it will take me 7 weeks to complete them all.  I bought the background fabric and raided my stash for brights.  Right now, the brights are all laid out on the family room floor, making it really easy to select for each block.  I can’t leave it there, so i have to find a container that allows easy access to each color.  This may take longer than 7 weeks…..Timothy icingYesterday, Timothy’s day camp was canceled because of the rain, so he spent the morning with us.  He always brings his Hershey cookbook with him, in hopes we will bake something together.  I showed him the September Food Network magazine that had 50 recipes for bar cookies with pictures of each one.  He looked at all the pictures and recipes and picked out birthday cake bars, mainly because the dough had a half cup of sprinkles in it.  He did all the work himself, with supervision, and frosted them too, with more sprinkles on top.  He took the magazine home with him, probably to talk his mom into making more bar variations.  After tasting them, I’m buying another copy of the magazine.

  1. Love the new block! Will that replace the thread or is it a different project? All the children love to bake with you!
