simple lunchWes and I walked out to the lighthouse yesterday.  We packed a simple lunch, tuna for him and a pbj for me, and sat in the sun on the lighthouse deck.  river viewThe water was a little choppy when we arrived, but by the time we left, it had settled down.  dredgingThere is dredging being done on the Esopus. dried flowersAfter a pleasant hour on the deck, we walked back slowly.  
After the flowers go, there’s still interesting plants to see. These looked like baby Muppets to me. dried flowersThere is all kinds of dried flowers. These looked soft, but were rather prickly.bargeWe sat on a bench a while and watched three barges going down river. late summer flowersThe wild flowers will be gone for so long, I want to soak up seeing them. late summer flowersThis whole crop of purple was breathtaking. 
As we walked, we talked about going somewhere else for a picnic on Thursday. We are soaking up being outside too.
