Wes and I took the short hike to the new Kaatersville Falls viewing platform yesterday. It was 7 degrees colder in Haines Falls than it was here at home, making me very glad I had brought gloves.
In the middle left of this picture, you can see a man in a blue jacket hiking. He was way, way below the platform.
The falls are to the left as you look off the platform and this view is to the right. It’s not much to look at now, especially on a cloudy day, but imagine it in the other three seasons. Actually, it would be pretty with some snow in it too.
Just as we were leaving, a whole group of people came, so viewing space was at a premium.
It’s an all down hill walk to the platform, so going back is a bit more strenuous.
There are drains built into the path in several places, nicely made of bluestone.
Some of the “benches” along the path are
a bit more comfortable than others.
Seriously, we can’t wait to go back. It’s a lovely walk and the change of seasons viewed from the platform will be spectacular!.
