Yesterday morning, Jonathan, Natasha, and Andrew arrived at 8:30am to begin demolition in our kitchen. It was a school holiday, so the kids got to come and help. Jonathan started with the trim and then moved to taking the brick wall down. Andrew was a big help picking up the debris and putting it in the garbage can. We have a trailer outside that Jonathan will take to the dump when we are done demolishing.
Natasha and I spent a great amount of time spraying the walls with wallpaper paste softener and then scraping it off.
There used to be a little shelf on one brick wall that we took down years ago, but behind the sheet rock, were pencils that had fallen off the back of the shelf and into the wall..
Andrew wanted to hammer, so he’s very busy here doing just that. Notice Jonathan in the background with
sheet rock that he’s starting to put up.
The kids like the demolition part. Arm them with a hammer and a screwdriver and they were very happy to help Wes pry up the slate in the hall way.
A funny: Once the slate demolition was done, Andrew got out his Hot Wheel cars to play with. Jonathan was spackling and found several places where Andrew had run his car through the spackle, leaving lovely tire marks on the wall. Thankfully, the spackle hadn’t dried yet.
Wowee! You all got a lot done!!!
