For Corey’s book signing party in July, we, of course, are using a bird theme for decorations. Years ago I had made some origami birds, so I went looking for my directions. I found them, but the stiffener I had was old and smelled like vinegar. Into the garbage it went, and into Joann’s I went for new stiffener. It was a messy job to saturate all the fabric squares, but I ended up with a whole washline full.
The fabric was stiff ans very wrinkled, but it ironed nice and flat for trimming into perfect squares. I was surprised how many of the squares shrunk and had to be trimmed.
I should have diluted the stiffener more than I did. This fabric is REALLY stiff and resists folding into birds, but once folded, the birds are very sturdy and will make cute decorations.
Very cute!
