At the library fair a couple of weeks ago I picked up a vegetarian cookbook published in 1987, for $.50, figuring I could always donate it back if there wasn’t anything yummy in it. I was glancing through it today, noting the author’s use of margarine in several recipes, when I found a recipe for a 4 ingredient strawberry soup made in the food processor. Wes, Raven, and I sampled it for a first course at dinner. (Aren’t we elegant!!) Raven said it tasted more like a dessert than a first course, but all three of us finished our bowls. I’m going to make it again because I want April to taste it too ( she’s a strawberry fiend). I’m going to check out what else is in that cookbook–minus the margarine.
The second treat I had today was a diet root beer. Neither Wes nor I drink soda unless we’re having pizza, which isn’t very often. But Saturday, I had a craving for root beer with a splash of milk, something I used to have as a treat as a kid. Notice that this time it was diet root beer but it was still as delicious as I remember. Who says you can’t go home again?
