We had an odd way of celebrating our 44th anniversary yesterday. On Sunday, we had made a to-do list of chores we wanted to p get done around the house before the book signing party on July 9th.  Wes worked on cleaning the garage on Sunday and Monday.  He also told me he wonders why he’s held on to some of the stuff he’s  now getting rid of.  I felt the same way when I sorted out quilting fabric and supplies last summer.

I painted an outside window and two door frames, made two loaves of bread, refreshed my sourdough starter to bake tomorrow,

Bird cookies

and baked bird cookies, in addition to laundry and lots of other chores.

 Indian pancake appetizer

We did go out to dinner at Kodomo, one of our favorite places.  I had the Indian pancake appetizer which comes with a dipping sauce that’s so good I wanted to lick the little bowl. And, look how pretty the flower garnish is!

Wes had his old favorite- Pad Thai and I had mine- sushi. We finished the evening with a stop at Jolly Cow for salted caramel ice cream

Unnamed flower

after a visit to Adams for some vinca plants and this odd little flower that will do well in dry conditions, according to the label.

It was a busy and productive day, kind of a weird way to spend an anniversary, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m not so sure  Wes feels the same way, it was awfully hot in the garage.
