Among the many errands Wes and I ran yesterday was a stop at Warren Cutlery in Rhinebeck.  Our four red paring knives needed to be sharpened, so while that was happening, we looked around the store. We were in the market for a new bread knife and new pancake turners, which we found, but we also found a few other items we couldn’t live without.

From the left, a spice or powdered sugar sifter for small quantities, just the thing for a sprinkle of cinnamon over hot chocolate or a drift of powdered sugar on French toast. The green item is a scraper that I’m going to use to get bread dough off the counter afte I’ve kneaded it. Sometimes it sticks like glue and I struggle to get the counter clean. The star shaped item is new measuring spoons.  I spread them out for the picture, but they normally all stick together magnetically. The best part is there’s a measuring spoon on each end, one for wet and one for dry and they are different sizes, to fit in narrow spice jars. I can’t believe I’m so excited about measuring spoons. The next two items are new pancake turners and the last item is a scraper/scoop/spreader thingy that looks like it will come in handy.

I’m headed into the kitchen– I have an urge to cook something.
