As Leslie and I finished our usual walk on Monday morning, we decided to check out the area where logging is being done in our neighborhood. We followed the path of destruction (logging trail) for quite a distance, ending up at the dry stream bed behind her house.
We crossed the stream and came out in Leslie’s back yard. The destruction and loss of animal habitat made us both sad. We realize it’s not our property and the owner can do what he wants, but something very beautiful is now ugly. I am consoled by how fast nature replenishes. By this time next year, there will be new growth and some of the ugliness will be covered, but it will never be the same.
