I must admit this is an odd looking birthday gift, but I absolutely love it! It’s an Amazon Echo, and while I haven’t scratched the surface of what it can do yet, what I have discovered has been fun. Her name is Alexa and I have to say her name to wake her up before I make a request.
So far, Wes and I have asked her to play specific songs. I left the kitchen while a Jackson Browne song was playing and came back to Elvis Presley singing HoundDog and Wes boogieing around the kitchen.
I had to download the Alexa app to my iPhone and what I found in the app was amazing. She gives 5 minute updates on the news whenever I ask, will read to me from any book I have on my Audible account, (which I have to set up) weather reports for any city I ask for, recipes from the Food Network, games, and tons more stuff. This is going to be fun!
