In the late 90’s, when Wes worked in Vermont, I visited him there for a weekend. Of course, when I go to a new city, I always check if there’s a quilt shop. There was, and I bought several identical sets of six inch flannel squares in hopes of making us a king size quilt. Fast forward, 18 years or so, to last summer, when we totally gutted our family room in preparation for putting down a new floor and painting the walls. I found the partially sewn quilt in one of my project tubs and decided to finish it. Just before Christmas it came back from the machine quilter, and yesterday, I put the finishing stitches in the binding. It’s wonderfully soft flannel with a wool batting and I can’t wait to get it washed and on our bed.
And you know what? That wasn’t my oldest UFO (unfinished object), but now I’m psyched to continue finishing stuff. It’s a wonderful feeling.
When I finish any project I’m really happy! I’m going to start making the Christmas tags I didn’t do before Christmas! I will have lots for the next few years!
