After all the wind we had this past winter there is a huge amount of twigs, branches, and limbs in the yard. Wes and I hired Natasha and Andrew to pick up sticks and load them in the wagon.  Natasha set her phone timer for 30 minutes as she, Andrew, and Wes had agreed.

At the stroke of 30 minutes, the kids stopped working, but I was surprised how many sticks they had picked up and dumped in the woods.  Wes an I continued to rake and rake and rake.  We made progress, but are far from done.

While I was raking outside, there was bread rising inside.

I usually bake Cookie Monster sugar cookies for Easter, but while looking through my old handwritten cookbook, I found a brown sugar cookie recipe that Mom had given me. It was a recipe she had received from her Aunt Ella and I remember how much I had liked them. They are as good as I remembered.

Busy day and lots accomplished.

  1. That was a good idea to have child labor! They are closer to the ground to pick up the sticks!
