Wes and I had planned on cleaning our house on Thursday, but as I was finishing my breakfast, he jumped up from his computer and said he wanted to go to Story Farms. He had seen a picture of the first of the season strawberries on Facebook and he wanted some. Oh the fragrance! Oh the taste!
After we finished cleaning, I sat down to finish the last May block. (Just in time–the June ones mail on June 1st) This one is called honeysuckle and there’s 120 equilateral triangles making up the block which is then trimmed to a 12 1/2 inch square after the flower stems are appliqued on. This was not my idea of a good time, nevertheless I persevered.
Leslie and I managed to get our walk in yesterday morning, even though it was raining a little. I’m always surprised when I see daisy buds in May; I always think they’re a later in the summer flower, but actually they bloom in June. They’re right on time.
Strawberries look really good. Hope they are sweet! Persevering with block will make you very happy when it’s finished!
