Wes went with some friends to the racetrack in Saratoga yesterday.   I had a whole day to myself with plans to sew, shop, and get a pedicure—all of which I accomplished. I had the hand  appliqué part of this block done and thought it would go together pretty fast. With the exception of matching a few of the quarter circles for the flowers, it did go smoothly and I finished in about 90 minutes.  It is a strange block though, with the interrupted stems, but blends in with the other oddities from this pattern.  I keep looking at the picture of the finished quilt and it’s pretty, so all is not ready for the scrap basket  yet.
