Highclere Castle, where Downton Abbey was filmed, is an immense building that has over 50 bedrooms. It’s open for six weeks in the summer and we visited the Thursday before the final weekend, which resulted a in long wait line in the drizzle.
But nothing could dampen my spirits–I was going to walk into Downton Abbey.
There was no picture taking allowed inside, but the rooms I saw looked just like the show, and I got to walk down the red carpeted stairs!
I was hoping to see the kitchen, but found out that it was actually a constructed set located somewhere else. But now I can say I’ve walked where royalty has. 🙂
Happy you got there! It must have been amazing!
