Wes and I packed a picnic lunch (peanut butter sandwiches and apples) yesterday and drove to North Lake. it was 72 degrees when we left home and 62 windy, chilly degrees there, with white caps showing at times on the lake. After eating, we walked to South Lake trying to find as many sunny spots as possible.
Thistle going to seed.
Wind pushed water at South Lake.
The beach was all groomed, so, of course, I had to walk on it.
Kayaks and canoes all lined up
We walked back along a path through the woods, over rocks and roots.
A hidden picnic table overlooking the water.
There’s a few trees turning color and a few leaves down.
I don’t know if the abundance of pine cones means it’s going to be a tough winter, but if it does, we’re in trouble.
In spite of the chill and wind, North Lake was a lovely spot to enjoy a birthday lunch and walk. This time of year the days spent outside are precious.
