Bonnie and I got up at zero dark thirty on Sunday morning to take the train to Manhattan and meet up with Katie. After a late breakfast/early brunch, we took an Uber ride to the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx to see the Chihuly exhibit.
Some pieces were outside and some were inside, but all were breathtaking.
All of the pieces are blown glass and any that are multiple pieces, like the one above and the first two, are disassembled for shipping and then reconstructed on site.
The inside ones were inserted into the displays in the greenhouses and almost looked like they grew there
even though they are larger then life.
As we wandered from one greenhouse to another, I was also watching the people’s faces. Everyone was enjoying and appreciating this unique art .
Bonnie and Katie posed next to this huge piece to give an idea of the size. ( remember each one is put together on site)
We also watched a series of six minute videos that showed how the glass is blown and how displays are put together.
I am so glad Katie suggested it and especially glad Bonnie asked me to go with her. This was an unforgettable experience
The Chihuly exhibit is at the New York Botanical Garden until Sunday, October 29th,
Love
