Finger on the Shutter

On Sunday, Wes and I drove to Queens to visit with Corey, Daisy, and Desi. This was our first time crossing the new Tappan Zee bridge. We took the subway into Manhattan where our first stop was Adorama , a huge camera store, where for a good price, I upgraded and replaced my worn out Canon camera body with a refurbished one. We then walked a couple blocks to a Japanese restaurant for lunch. The picture above is my lunch, which was beautifully presented and delicious, but I’m glad I don’t have to do the dishes in that place. Our next stop was a Lego store. Desi and I each bought a cup of Lego bricks by selecting what we wanted from bins of Legos. We’ve done that before and it’s always fun to pick specific sizes and colors .

The Statue of Liberty torch in Legos. We took a  walk to the subway again for a short ride to Bryant Park to visit the kiosks of vendors set up in the park.  There was everything from socks to jewelry to dinosaur kits for sale, as well as all kinds of food. Wes and Corey found a table and enjoyed hot ciders while Daisy, Desi and I shopped. All too soon the guys texted us as they were cold and we headed back to the subway and home.

Desi posed in front of a decorated store window. He liked the snowman and Santa, but said the nutcracker “creeped him out”. On the subway platform there were hats painted on the walls. My hat is a little oversized .

We exited the subway one stop before their regular one because we decided we wanted dessert from the close by Chinese bakery. Everyone picked out a treat  to go and we enjoyed a cup of tea at their apartment ( and Desi and I built with his cupful of Legos) before heading home.

It took Wes and me a little over two hours to get home. Grand Central Parkway is slow going in spots on Sunday evening. It was a wonderful day. It’s always fun to visit with Corey, Daisy and Desi and there’s always something interesting to eat and do.
