Wes and I ran errands on Monday in preparation  for staying home on Tuesday to bake.

First up was sourdough bread. This is sourdough pumpkin walnut quick bread, which has some leftover sourdough starter in it and actually baked first while the bread was proofing. We also baked nut balls.. The recipe came from our sister-in-law Ellen in 1976 and is always part of our Christmas cookie selection. The thumbprint cookies are from a recipe from Wes’s niece Karen and we’ve been making them since 1974. When I ask my family what kind of cookies they want for Christmas, these always get the most votes.

More tomorrow.
