On Tuesday morning, Corey read a report of a snowy owl on the Rondout in Kingston. Being we had nothing planned, we decided to see if we could spot it too. Traveling in two carsWes, Corey, Daisy, Desi, and I drove to Kingston, parked at Kingston Point Park, and walked through the snow with the wind in our faces.
It was bitterly cold, but the scenery while we walked made it all worthwhile.Kingston lighthouse framed by trees
Corey found the owl through the digiscope
then stepped back so we could take a look.
A barge traveled by while we were there, surprisingly close .
Daisy, Desi, and I climbed down onto the rocky beach where the ice patterns were beautiful.
Desi posed for me with ice and an angelic smile.
We all saw the snowy owl through the digiscope, but being we were looking into the sun, Corey said the pictures he took of it were not good. It was still a wonderful walk and experience, albeit a frozen one, and we have the memory of the owl.
It must have been some thrill to see the snowy owl! They are so beautiful!
