This is the mystery block as the designer, Bonnie Hunter, intended it, except I champned some of the color placement. There was too much melon/orange foe my taste. In between the blocks there was supposed to be orange sashing which I am leaving out all together. This is a nice block, but it doesn’t make my heart sing, so I started moving the units around.
I took the last three pictures from a text message on my phone, so they look a little weird.
In this block I turned the flying geese units around and a dark brown square formed around the center. Hmmmm, I like this.
I put the flying geese units back where they were and turned the corner pieces around. Now there’s an orange square around the aqua square. I like this one too.
Then I turned the flying geese units around again. Ding. Ding. Ding. We have a winner! I like this one the best, so far. Once I get all the units made and can lay out a few blocks, seeing if there is a secondary pattern between them, then it will be final decision time. Isn’t quilting exciting?
It will be fun to see what you finally
decide on. I think I will like it better when
I see a few more blocks together. Yes it is exciting how you can change the look just by moving pieces around!
