I saw a Michael’s craft store advertisement for kits for handmade stepping stones on sale 40% off. I thought it might be a fun Mother’s Day project for Timothy, Natasha, and Andrew to make, but first I wanted to see just how involved and difficult it was. Wes is always ready to help with my projects, so here he is kneading the water into the cement mixture. It was all done very neatly in a zip lock bag.
I had greased the plastic mold with Pam, then the cement, which was the consistency of pancake batter, gets poured in.
The kit contained pieces of colorful glass and stones to complete the stained glass look. We had constructed the butterfly on the pattern, then carefully moved the glass pieces, one by one, into the wet cement. Now it has to dry/set for a couple of days and that’s it. The kids are gonna love this project!
Yes they will!
