After Wes and I spent three days sorting and organizing all my fabric, I thoroughly enjoyed picking out fabrics to make these two small wall hangings. Singing in the Rain is my all-time favorite movie, so when I saw this pattern by Sue Pritt in Log Cabin Fabrics, I had to buy it. It was fun to make and every time I walk by it, I start humming Singing in the Rain. The second wall hanging, or Walking in the Rain, is a pattern by Karen Pratt (interesting how the two designers’ names only differ by one vowel) and it’s much nicer in person. The end of each rain drop has a bead sewn on it and they sparkle. While I was unsuccessfully looking for sparkly buttons in Joanns, Wes found sparkly beads in the jewelry aisle that are perfect. Now that it’s finished, I realize I should have made the bird in a bit darker fabric. That’s one of the great things about quilting–there’s always room for improvement.
They are so cute!
